Shannon Soto,

Resident in Counseling

Hi, I'm Shannon. I am an experienced counselor with over 10 years working in the mental health field. I hold two Master's degrees, one with a focus in Marriage and Family Counseling and the other Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am currently pursuing Clinical Licensure as a Resident and it is an honor to work here at Empower Counseling. I hope to offer emotional support and guidance to those seeking a safe space to discover greater health and wholeness in life.

I am trained in a variety of therapeutic orientations and prefer to utilize a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach. I enjoy helping others by integrating various treatment modalities to best meet the needs and goals of clients. My areas of focus are helping adults, young adults, and teens to address distressing issues, significant life changes and all needs pertaining to trauma, loss or working towards increased self-efficacy. I am also experienced in working with couples and families who are working through difficult dynamics and improving communication for closer and stronger connection as needed. I aim to empower clients to create space, balance, time and strength to process and embrace their own voice and emotional needs.

I have been married for nearly 17 years and I am currently raising three teenage children. In my free time you will find me hanging out with family playing games, singing anything catchy, writing, reading, dancing around the house and creating meaningful moments with family and friends. I also enjoy spending time in nature- especially national parks and the beach! You will also find me outside nearly everyday walking with our dog or caring for our chickens and ducks.
