Geena is a Licensed Professional Counselor and holds a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Lynchburg. Over the past 8 years, Geena has worked with various ages and contexts providing mental health care including inpatient psychiatric care, outpatient counseling, TDT services, and school-based mental health services in alternative school placements. Over the last 5 years, her experience has been primarily with children and adolescents in the school and outpatient setting. Her experience includes working with aggression/anger management, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, ADHD, substance use, and suicidal ideation. Geena’s approach to counseling is founded on client-centered and strength-based approaches. She believes everyone’s journey is unique and is passionate about helping individuals navigate their journey by improving emotional health. She is also passionate about working with children through play therapy approaches. Geena utilizes various techniques from evidenced-based therapies and recently became a Certified Grief Informed Professional through Evergreen Certifications.
