Jordyn Chaverri, Resident in Counseling

Forest Location

Hey there! I’m Jordyn Chaverri, a Resident in Counseling in the state of Virginia. I graduated from Liberty University with my bachelor’s in Psychology in 2016, then took some time off before finishing my master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through Liberty University in 2022. Through practicum, internship, and employment opportunities, I have gained experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults. I also have experience working with a variety of different concerns and diagnoses, including anxiety, ADHD, trauma, and conduct disorders. Most recently, I have worked with children and adolescents with behavioral concerns, providing therapeutic day treatment and outpatient services in the school setting.
My passion is working with children and adolescents through non-directive, person-centered and play therapy approaches. I am hoping to work toward becoming both a clinical certified trauma professional and registered play therapist as part of my own professional development. I also enjoy utilizing art therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and internal family systems therapy approaches to best meet clients where they are and support them in reaching their goals. I am also a certified SYMBIS assessment facilitator for couples.
When I am not working, I enjoy spending quality time with my husband and our cat, Maverick. I enjoy reading the newest thriller or mystery novel, and love to be outdoors, often going for a run or a bike ride. Local coffee shops are my favorite places to work from! I also find joy in making crafts for local markets or for others to display in their homes.
